SOS Fitness Grand Opening - 2023

SOS Fitness Grand Opening

Sullivan On Site Fitness offers personal training and nutrition coaching services at the convenience of your home or place of employment.

We're excited to announce that Sullivan On Site Fitness (SOS Fitness) is ready to take on new clients beginning in 2023!

With over 15 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, owner Sean Sullivan is anxious to get back into helping people to look and feel their best via his passion, personal training. Sean started off his career right after high school by attending the National Personal Training Institute - at that time located in Richmond Heights, Ohio.

"I was one of those odd kids who actually knew what I wanted to do after high school," Sullivan admits. "National Personal Training Institute was the perfect fit for me to focus on learning anatomy, physiology, exercise science and nutrition and other relevant subjects without wasting my time and energy on unnecessary electives."

Sean continues to explain that he understood the many benefits of working exclusively with a personal trainer to achieve his goals. He was a world-championship level Irish dancer for many years, and he went through an exercise and nutrition program with a fitness expert in order to maintain a high level of performance. Sean worked with his trainer on endurance, explosiveness, flexibility and power, among other things.

"I knew first hand what could happen when you focus your efforts with the accountability of a personal trainer," he says. "As a lifeguard in high school, I was always around gyms and knew that helping other people was the ticket to happiness in life. I wanted to be a fitness instructor, too!"

Sean Sullivan (R) with his mentor John Henry Creel
After graduating from NPTI, Sean completed a 3 month unpaid internship at a place called Mind and Body Fitness where he was taken under the wing of and learned from one of the Top 100 Trainers in the Nation, (according to Mens Journal Magazine) John Henry Creel. John Henry hired Sean after the internship was complete, and the 2 of them became close friends. Sean is credited in the acknowledgements of Creel's best-selling book, C-REEL Results which is a 12-week guide to taking control of your own metabolism.

While working at Mind & Body Fitness, Sean received an email with an opportunity to manage a new personal training studio that was opening in Brecksville called Fitness Together. After discussing the idea with his mentor, John Henry, they decided that Sullivan was ready to spread his wings and begin to build his own reputation in the industry.

Sean with Sports Science instructors at Heritage College
After managing the private, one-on-one personal training studio for a handful of years, Sean purchased the location. Having helped many clients to exceed their goals, word-of-mouth referrals began spreading and the studio grew. Sullivan wanted to give back to the community which was supporting him, so he got involved by becoming the President of the Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the board of the Better Business Bureau and for Heritage College's Sports Sciences program advisory board. Sean and his team were able to help several people to lose over 100 pounds, recover from injuries, manage their pain, increase strength, endurance and flexibility, among many other unique goals. They customized a tailor-made program that aligned with the clients' needs and abilities.

Sean (R) with a group of FIT36 Franchisees
Before long, Sean partnered up with a couple of other fitness gurus and had ownership interest in 10 locations across 5 states. The team went on to purchase an entire franchise system called FIT36 which had 13 locations nationwide and was growing. Sullivan and his partners also began consulting other health and wellness companies such as Profile by Sanford and Elements Massage in order to help grow those brands as well. They had big dreams and goals of continuing to help many people to gain levels of optimal health...then that all came to a screeching halt. The COVID-19 Pandemic began and fitness clubs around the country were deemed non-essential. Some of their locations were in places that were shut down for close to a year or longer. The group allowed their faithful owners to disenfranchise to create their own identities. At this time, Sean was feeling burnt out from the experience and made the heart-breaking decision to exit the fitness industry altogether.

But Now He's Back...

It's been a couple of years now, and the dust has settled. After looking into and even trying a few other career options, the need to help people to live a longer, happier and more active lifestyle has been calling. Sullivan says that he always knew in the back of his mind that he would be back with his true passion one day - working with clients again. This time around though, he plans to train people in the convenience of their homes. Sean has worked with hundreds of clients in a one-on-one setting; and even more in the small and large group personal training classes. He looks forward to utilizing his skills and expertise gained in the fitness industry over the years to help even more people into 2023 and beyond.
